Beggars banquet Le bal des vauriens
This weekend witnessed the two get-togethers of politically correct welfare mothers. Friday evening was the broadcast of the annual festival of the Enfoirés, a concert tour to raise money to buy food for people who prefer to be spoon fed. The show was staged by a female stand-up comic who looks like a truck driver, a nymphomaniac midget chick, and all of France's washed up music hall performers. Saturday evening was reserved for the celebration of works of cinema which fail to break even. As continuing proof of their cluelessness, the French honored an obese American liar and a Polish pedophile. Other losers, too numerous to mention, were also rewarded by the French taxpayer. Ce weekend fut celui des deux grandes messes des bien-pensants subventionnés. Vendredi soir nous avons eu droit au festival annuel des Enfoirés, une tournée de concerts pour collecter des fonds en vue de acheter de la bouffe pour ceux qui préfèrent l'assistanat. Le spectacle était rondement mené une comique française ressemblant à une camionneuse, une naine nymphomane, et tout ce que la France peut compter comme artistes tocards de music-hall. Samedi a vu la grande fête des productions cinématographiques qui n'arrivent pas à rentrer dans leur argent. Comme preuve supplémentaire de leur manque de jugeotte les français ont salué un menteur américain obèse et un pédophile polonais. D'autres vauriens, beaucoup trop nombreux à énumérer ici, étaient également récompensés par les contribuables français.

The French love to say that Blair is Bush's poodle, and Aznar is not much better as far as they are concerned. If Blair and Aznar are closely following the US line on terrorism it is because they are all too familar with terrorism itself. Aznar survived a ETA car bombing in 1995, and Blair is part of a political generation which was marked by Margaret Thatcher's survival of an IRA hotel bombing in Brighton in 1984. On the other hand, France's reaction to terrorism on French soil in the 80s and the 90s was the same: negotiate with the terrorists 'bend over and give up the booty'
It should be noted that the singing drunk Renaud has had his 2 biggest hits at the expense of terror victims: 'Miss Maggie' and 'Manhattan-Kaboul'. 		Les français adorent traiter Blair de 'caniche' de Bush et Aznar n'est guère mieux loti. Blair et Aznar se trouvent tellement proche de la politique américaine envers le terrorisme car ils connaissent le terrorisme trop bien. Aznar a survécu à un attentat à la voiture piégée de l'ETA en 1995, et Blair fait partie d'une génération politique très marquée par Margaret Thatcher qui avait survébu à un attentat à la bombe d'un hôtel à Brighton en 1984. Du côté français, la politique vis-à-vis du terrorisme qui a frappé sur leur territoire dans les années 80 et 90 était la négociation avec les terroristes 'accroupissement, présentation de l'anus'.
Il n'est pas passé inaperçu que le pochetron chantant Renaud a eu ses deux succès les plus retentissants sur le dos des victimes de la terreur: 'Miss Maggie' and 'Manhattan-Kaboul'.

Why its Régis Debray. This guy's really been around. In this article, vainly titled 'The French Lesson', he explains to those brutish Americans why they should treat France as an equal partner and bla, bla, bla, yak, yak, yak. Régis, my friend, it looks like France will be treated as an equal partner quicker than you can say 'find the moolah to pay for your own defense'. Ma foi, c'est Régis Debray. Celui-là a fait les 400 coups. Dans cet article, titré de façon vaniteuse 'La leçon de français', il explique aux américains rustres pourquoi ils devraient considérer les français comme des partenaires sur un pied d'égalité, et patiti et patata. Régis, bonhomme, on dirait que la France sera si vite considérée comme un partenaire égal qu'il va falloir comprendre la signification de 'trouver de la tune pour financer votre propre défense' illico.

The government would have us believe that the French economy is 'economically desirable'. Direct investment in France fell 17% from 2001 to 2002 (it fell much more if not for some Enron-like accounting) and the brain drain is a lasting trend. Judging by the e-mails that I receive from my French readers, alot of them want to emigrate. Faced with punishing mesures from the United States, the government is turning up the effort on propaganda. Too little too late. Le gouvernement essaie de faire croire que l'économie française est 'économiquement désirable'. Les investissements directs ont chuté de 17% entre 2001 et 2002 (ils sont tombés plus bas mais des acrobaties comptables maquillent ce fait) et la fuite des cerveaux continue. A juger par les e-mails que je recois de la part des lecteurs français, ils sont nombreux à vouloir émigrer. Face à un probable coup de massue venu des Etats-unis, le gouvernement met les bouchées doubles sur les efforts de propagande. Ça va tomber court.

Francis Lalanne, singer, writer, and lots of other things too but lousy at everything, made an appearance on the French cable new channel LCI to discuss current events. With regards to EU membership he stated 'The English must decide which side they are on'. Sounds alot like 'either you are with us, or you are against us' which the French usually find so exasperating. He also said that he agreed with Chirac's attitude towards the eastern European countries but that he would have preferred that Chirac be more polite. Politely hypocritical is the French national posture. Francis Lalanne, chanteur, écrivain, et plein d'autres chose encore mais raté en tout, est passé à la chaîne d'information LCI pour commenter l'actualité. Au sujet de faire partie de l'UE ou non il a déclaré 'Il faut que les anglais choisissent leur camp'. On dirait la même chose que 'ou bien vous êtes avec nous, ou bien vous êtes contre nous' qui horripile tellement les français. Il a aussi déclaré qu'il approuvait l'attitude de Chirac vis-à-vis des pays européens de l'Est mais qu'il aurait préféré que les choses soient dites avec plus de politesse. Faux cul mais poli, à l'image de son pays.
