They are practically fighting amongst themselves to see who will be the first to shake his bloodstained hands. French assemblymen are making the pilgrimage to visit him at his prison to express their concern that France might lose its reputation as a safe haven for Red Brigade terrorists. The double standard applies here as well. Dantec sends an e-mail to a marginal political group and people call for the guillotine. For Battisti the murderer, they call for sainthood. Et si vous n'êtes pas un anti-américain anti-sémite, être un tueur c'est encore mieux.
